A pair of of “Koma” - cloak fasteners - used by Bhutanese women to fasten their dress -Kira. A pair of fasteners were generally used -both at the front and the two fasteners were connected by a chain link that went behind the neck at the back. Each of the Komas are fitted with hooks at the back which are used to hook onto the Kira to hold them together. Made in various materials, Komas are more elaborate and made with some precious materials to show status and rank. This pair of Komas and chain made of silver and gilded is highly intricate and shows that it was made for a woman of a high status and standing. The Koma is in the shape of the wheel of dharma and the chain connecting chain is made with alternating links of eternity knots gilded with a central link made of the dharma wheel.
