Antique Tibetan Copper Brass Powder Flask Engraved Himalayan Accessory
Antique Tibetan Copper Brass Powder Flask Engraved Himalayan Accessory
An unusual and decorative antique Tibetan powder flask crafted from copper and brass and embellished with finely engraved floral and foliate motifs. The flask features a tapering cylindrical form with raised brass bands, a curved carrying handle, and a traditional pouring spout fitted with a dispensing mechanism for black powder.
The copper body is extensively decorated with hand-engraved floral designs, demonstrating the blending of utility and artistry characteristic of Tibetan and Himalayan metalwork. Large examples of this type accompanied muzzle-loading firearms and were used by hunters, travelers, and guards throughout the Himalayan region.
Part firearm accessory, part ethnographic artifact, this imposing 13-inch example displays a rich aged patina and strong visual appeal, making it equally suitable for collectors of antique arms accessories, Tibetan art, and decorative metalwork.
