Dragons and Phoenixes, unlike the west, are seen as benign, benevolent creatures in Tibetan cultures; and considered symbols of a long peaceful and bountiful life. When paired together as in this rug they represent harmony - the masculine and feminine energies. This mid 20th C., Tibetan , all wool rug has two sets of dragons and phoenixes, and measures 33-1/2”x65” and has a black background. This rug has been repaired at a few spots.
