A truly unique piece of cultural history consisting of a circular silver tray with and oval shaped jug with a pointed mouth. A remnant of a culinary tradition- the jug would be filled with aromatics - mostly rose water: napkins would be dipped in the rose water and used by patrons to dab over their hands and face during meals.
This elaborately carved Repousse (2) piece set with bands of figures seated around tables and in and out of doors all beneath a canopy of scrolls and flora was made in the late 19th - early 20th Century. A second band has fish, goats, cows, elephant and scorpion. 8 x 13 x 5 1/4 inches. The tray elaborately decorated with figures, elephant, birds, goats, cows etc. Raised on (4) ball and claw feet. 17 1/2 inches Retailed by Coombs Co. Ltd.
